He as god sits in the temple of god, is part of a prophetic statement that unfortunately is not understood by very many. Most end time prophecy teachers relate this verse with a rebuilding of a temple for the Jewish people.
Those who teach of this final Jewish temple also believe the following:
- The Beast or man of sin will make a Covenant with the Jewish people.
- Israel’s sacrificial system will be instituted once again.
- The Beast will confirm a covenant with many for 3 1/2 years (Dan 9:27).
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
He as god sits in the temple of god explained
2 Thes 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called god, or that is worshipped; so that he as god sits in the temple of god, shewing himself that he is god.
The Man of Sin sits or dwells in the temple of god. This verse suggests a temple wherein the evil one resides.
Acts 7:48-49 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
He as god, that sits or dwells in the temple of god, does indeed represent the man-of-sin who operates under the control of Satan himself.
2 Thes 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
The questions that we must ask however is, what is this temple, and can Satan truly dwell in that place?
Is this simply a physical habitation, or is there a hidden Spiritual mystery that can be uncovered in 2 Thes 2:4?
Dan 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
This verse in Daniel seems to collaborate with the theory of a rebuilt physical temple in Jerusalem according to the deceivers.
However, once the mysteries that are contained in 2 Thes 2:3-4, and Dan 9:27, are fully realized, your outlook on end time prophecy teachings will be forever changed.
The truths hidden in these passages will start the process of unraveling the deception in prophecy teaching.
2 Cor 4:3-4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Messiah, who is the image of Yahweh, should shine unto them
