Our Assurance of Salvation
Our assurance of Salvation represents a sure hope in Christ our Messiah that is confirmed by His Holy Spirit of truth. This is the down payment given to all who are Sealed (2 Cor 1:22, Eph 1:13-14, Eph 4:30).
Many misguided people who do not have the assurance of Salvation, ask the question,” can I lose my Salvation”? The answer to that question is quite simple; you cannot lose what you don’t yet possess.
If you have ever wondered if you could lose your Salvation, you can rest assured that the answer is without any doubt, absolutely not.
But through the Holy Spirit, we can realize our assurance of Salvation. Whenever the words Salvation or Redemption are utilized with regards to a believer it is always in reference to a future event. This redemptive process can only take place at the second advent of Yahshua. One of the problems with Christianity today is that most have no hope. In fact, few even understand the meaning of the word.
How can you hope for something you claim to have already received?
1 Pet 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
Our Assurance of Salvation allows us to endure until the end
We can not discuss the hope that we do not have, because of our assurance of Salvation that we claim to already possess. The true followers of Yahshua understand that the end result of their faith is, in fact, the Salvation of their souls. Our assurance of Salvation is what enables us to faithfully endure the tribulations that we will encounter if we are living a life set apart unto Yahshua.
To make the claim that we are saved before we truly are is an act of self-righteousness, and it is a deadly and empty false doctrine.
Lam 3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
The Lamb of God is also the King of Kings, and He alone provides our assurance of Salvation. This gift is given to all who are worthy of it, that worship Yahshua in Spirit and in Truth.
Zech 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
The cross upon which Yahshua died, for the remission or covering of our sins, is the reason we can know of and obtain our assurance of Salvation.
Luke 1:77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
The explanation of this beautiful act of redemptive power and glory is given through His Love letter to us. This is our prized possession, it is the living Word of God.
Acts 13:26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
Following the new commandments that are written in our hearts and minds enable us to be referred to as His children. We can with Christ’s Love, understand and direct others towards the path of our assurance of Salvation. When one experiences real joy, sharing this joy with others naturally occurs.
Acts 16:17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
The gospel message to all that believe, is the power of God unto our assurance of Salvation. The word unto is an important one that distinguishes the timing. John uses the same word when he said that he baptizes with water unto repentance.
For true Christians, our Assurance of Salvation comes by Faith
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
According to salvation scriptures, we gain access to His Grace and Mercy by Faith through His Spirit. What a blessing our assurance of Salvation truly is. Our redemption from the sinful flesh and our gathering together unto Him, at the last day both occur at the same time. This is what motivates us, gives us a sure hope and allows us to produce works that are approved and acceptable by the Holy Spirit.
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
We joyfully wait with great anticipation, for the second coming of our Redeemer. Our reward is with and through Him, and Yahshua is the treasure we cling to. For the Spirit-filled Christian, our assurance of Salvation is the realization we will inherit incorruption and immortality if we faithfully run the race set before us. Notice that Yahshua only appears a second time with our Salvation, not three times as the Pre-tribulation Rapture crowd would have it.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Judean first, and also to the Greek.
We are to put off the works of darkness and the many false teachings that have lulled so many to sleep. Christ our Salvation draws nearer, as this present evil world comes closer to expiring.
Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we (first) believed.
That which is born of the flesh is of the flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is of the spirit. We who are born-again have a true knowledge of the Kingdom of God, and our assurance of Salvation is fully realized and sought after with great joy.
Being born-again and receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit are one in the same. Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-8).
The greatest tragedy is believing you are born-again without ever experiencing the true indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This lie is an empty promise that leads to death and destruction, as the ability to truly understand Yahshua and His life-changing testimony is impossible without His Spirit (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13; Eph 1:13).
All false teachers and the congregations that they preside over, that do not truly have the Holy Spirit have a form of godliness. But they deny the power thereof, as it is quite impossible to truly know Yahshua, apart from having His Spirit abiding in us.
The true spirit filled believer is the temple of God. The first chapter of Ephesians is very powerful and gives us a vivid description of our assurance of Salvation that we can possess. The believer that has been sealed is born-again. This life-changing event is also known as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. With this infilling, we can understand the Word of God, and therefore our assurance of Salvation is possible.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
Christ purchased us through His shed blood and gives us the Holy Spirit as a down payment. We are sealed or set apart from the world at this point, and the fulfillment of this contract which is our inheritance occurs upon our redemption at His second coming.
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Christ spoke plainly when He said that unless you believe and are baptized you shall not be saved. He did not say you are saved, but you shall be saved.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Emphasis added
John the Baptist proclaimed that are two Baptisms; one is unto repentance, and the other is unto our assurance of Salvation through the Holy Spirit. All who are in Yahshua can have the assurance of Salvation, but it does require the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Without His Spirit, it is impossible to even understand the Word of God. This is why there is so much division in the so-called Christian church today.
Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
John also tells us that we will be baptized with fire. This will be a process in which the impurities and useless pursuits of our lives will be burned up. What is left behind will be the determination of what type of rewards are due.
1 Cor 3:13-14 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
Our faith will also be tried in much the same way as our works. The end result of real faith is that it automatically produces good works, unto our assurance of Salvation.
1 Peter 1:7-9 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Yahshua the Messiah: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Our Assurance of Salvation Is Spiritually Discerned
It is Yahshua’s Spirit of Truth that enables us to truly receive and walk with Him. It also empowers us to be a true witness to others with His authority.
John 15:26-27 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:And ye also shall bear witness,(testify) because ye have been with me from the beginning.
We can be saved because of the renewing of our heart, mind, and Spirit. The word picture here is one in which our old natures being are made brand new. This is when we put on the mind of Yahshua and his spirit dwells within us. Paul warns us not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Yahshua’s Spirit also enables his elect to rightly discern the word of truth. The conspiracy against Yahshua the Messiah involves many doctrines of deception; Romans 8:11 is one of them.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you
And if the Spirit of Yahshua who is risen from the dead dwells in you, the Messiah who is risen from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you (Rom 8:11, 1 Cor 15:52, 1 Thes 4:16).
Yahshua has risen from the dead is an article that explains Yahshua answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again (John 2:19, 21).
The word regeneration is used by Yahshua to describe the process unto immortality and incorruption when we are changed at his second coming (Luke 21:28, Rom 8:23).
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he (saves us) by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
The Hope of our assurance of Salvation, is actually both a tactical and a defensive weapon, that we use to endure and conquer.
1 Thess 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
We love Him because He first loved us. We believe through the power of the Holy Spirit that provides us with a lasting faith unto our assurance of Salvation.
1 Peter 1:8-9 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Our Assurance of Salvation at the second advent of Christ
Christ speaks very clearly regarding the timing, of not only our assurance of Salvation revealed but the gathering together (or rapture), which most definitely occur at the same time. Here are a few more examples:
- When you see the end time events start to unfold; then look up for your redemption and salvation is at hand (Luke 21:28).
- Yahshua will return with His Angels and reward all according to their works. Some will inherit the new kingdom but many will be sent to Hell (Math 16:27).
The Word of God will return to set in motion the first judgment and resurrection; those that destroy the earth will be sent to Hell to await the lake of fire. However, a full reward is given to the prophets, saints and servants (Rev 11:18). It should be noted that the prophets saints and others are rewarded at this time, which most assuredly is at the end of the great tribulation period.
Three very crucial false doctrines are destroyed just by this one verse.
1-First of all, a rapture or gathering of the church before this time is quite impossible. How could the prophets not be worthy of the same rewards of the church? The entire body of Christ, together, will be rewarded with glorious new bodies at Christ’s second coming.
2-Secondly, a pre-tribulation rapture would suggest that the present day church is more righteous than those who died for their testimony of Christ, and penned the very Word of God. This notion is obviously beyond ludicrous.
But this is the teaching of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture movement. The church is raptured away and receives their rewards, and then years later the prophets and saints are rewarded.
3-Thirdly, our assurance of Salvation is fully realized at the second coming of our Redeemer. The reward for the righteous is Salvation, which just happens to occur at Yahshua’s second advent (Isa 62:11; Col 3:24; Rev 22:12).
2 Thes 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to (or unto) salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
To understand the intended meaning of Salvation it is important to understand that the word to, used in 2 Thes 2:13, carries the same meaning as the word unto, used in Matt 3:11. In both verses the word that should be used is unto, and this subtle change creates a completely different meaning.
John did not baptize with water and expect immediate repentance, it would be a process. So to then sanctification and belief of the truth are unto our assurance of Salvation.
Matt 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
If any man does not have the Spirit of Yahshua by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit he can not be a part of the family of God. This is the key to all understanding and allows us to walk with and through Yahshua.
Our Lord said the “words that I speak they are Spirit and they are Life”(John 6:63). This is the reason for false teachings, various denominations, confusion and ignorance of the truth. Without the Spirit of Truth, the teachings of men are just an opinion, and our assurance of Salvation is not truly understood.
Romans 8:6-9 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
